DHAKA: Even though there could be a rise of extremist attacks in the world followed by Sri Lanka incident, militants can do nothing in Bangladesh, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit Chief Monirul Islam said.
“They could think of something to do, but they have no capacity to make any concerted efforts in Bangladesh,” he also said at a function titled ‘Meet with Monirul Islam’ on Tuesday (April 23).
The function was organized by Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (Crab) at Cirdap auditorium.
Monirul Islam said many countries thought, following the Holey Artisan attack, we would not be able to tackle it, but with cooperation from folks and government’s zero tolerance policy have curbed militancy, though it was not eliminated.
As militancy and terrorism, he also said, is the same doctrine, therefore, someone falls into this ideology. Many people of this ideology have been brought to the book while others remain under monitoring
Monirul Islam said terrorists of other countries may aware after an occurrence in a country, but we are alert.
