PM to pay tribute to air crash victims at Army Stadium Coffins of 23 Bangladeshi passengers

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay homage to the Bangladeshi victims in US-Bangla aircraft crash when their bodies will be kept at Bangladesh Army Stadium for Janaza following their arrival in Dhaka from Kathmandu this afternoon.  

“The bodies of 23 Bangladeshi passengers will be brought to Dhaka by a cargo aircraft of Bangladesh Air force at 3 pm. At 4 pm, Janaza of the victims will be held at Bangladesh Army Stadium. The Premier will be there,” Rezaul Karim, assistant director of ISPR told Banglanews on Monday Morning (March 19).

Following the Janaza, the bodies will be handed over to relatives.

At least 51 people were killed as flight BS211 of US-Bangla Airlines burst into flames at the Kathmandu airport in Nepal on March 12. The deadly crash claimed lives of 26 Bangladeshis, 22 Nepalese, and a Chinese.

Out of 26, 23 bodies have already been identified. The rest 3 are under process to be identified.

The 23 identified passengers are-Um Salma, Akhi Moni, Begum Nurunnahar and Sharmin Akhter, Nazia Afrin and FH Priok, - Bilis Aara, Akhtar Begum, Md. Rakibul Hasan, Md. Hasan Imam, Minhaj Bin Nasir, Tamara Priyamayee, Md. Matiur Rahman, SM Mahmudur Rahman, Tanvir Shashi Reza, Aniruddha Jaman, Rafiq Uj Zaman and pilot Abid Sultan, Co-Pilot Prituula Rashid, Khwaja Saifullah, Faisal, Sanjida and Nuruzzaman.

The 3 unidentified passengers are- Nazrul Islam, Piyas Roy and Alifuzzaman. The bodies have to given DNA test.

Out of the 10 wounded, 2 were taken to Singapore, 6 are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical college Hospital (DMCH), and 1 was sent to Delhi, while the last one will be brought to Bangladesh today.
