5 to die for killing 24 people in Hasina’s rally in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: A Chattogram court has sentenced five persons to death for killing 24 Awami League activists and attempting to kill AL president Sheikh Hasina at a rally in Laldighi of Chattogram city. 

The court of Chattogram District and Session Judge Md Ismail Hossain delivered the verdict on Monday (January 20).

The death-raw convicts were--Prodip Barua, Mustafizur Rahman, Shah Md Abdullah, Momtaj Uddin and JC Mandal.

“24 persons were shot dead during an AL rally at Laldighi on January 24 of 1988. Attempt was also made to kill AL president Sheikh Hasina,” Chittagong Divisional Special Judge Court‘s Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury told Banglanews.
