BNP’s Tabith files case seeking cancellation of polls results

DHAKA: Bringing allegations of irregularity and corruption in the recently-held polls to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), BNP’s candidate Tabith Awal filed a case seeking cancellation of the results.

Tabith Awal filed the case with the Election Tribunal in Dhaka on Monday (March 2).

The first joint district court judge Utpaul Bhattacharjo will deliver verdict upon review of documents.

Tabith Awal’s lawyer AKM Ehsanur Rahman told Banglanews: “The case was filed seeking cancellation of results and re-election on allegation of vote rigging. The Tribunal will give order after reviewing documents.”

Elections to the DNCC and DSCC were held on February 1 last when Awami League candidates Atiqul and Taposh won the mayoral posts.
