Tarique among 3 face arrest warrant in N’ganj

NARAYANGANJ:  A Narayanganj court issued arrest warrants against three persons, including BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

Senior Judicial Magistrate of Narayanganj court Anchal Miltol Hossain issued the arrest warrant on Monday (September 9).

Earlier at noon, Akram Hossain Badal, a member of the central Awami League's religion sub-committee, filed a defamation case against three persons including Tarique Rahman in the same court.

The other two accused in the case are - UK BNP’s president Shaista Chowdhury Kuddus and general secretary Kowsar M Ahmed.

District AL’s Liberation War affairs secretary advocate Nurul Huda, senior lawyer Ashraful Alam and others moved for the petition.  

Advocate Nurul Huda said: “Tarique Rahman said, at a ceremony in London on August 19, the way Bangabandhu became Prime Minister in 1972 is illegal. He is not the father of the nation. He is only Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Sheikh Hasina's government is illegal and Bangabandhu did not want independence of this country.”

He also said a defamation case was filed under sections 500 and 501 against Tarique Rahman, UK BNP president and general secretary. 

Inspector of Narayanganj court police Asaduzzaman said next day of hearing of the case was fixed on December 10.
