RANGPUR: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted drives and detained two suspected rapists from Dinajpur and Gaibandha districts Sunday (May 12). 

RAB-13 Commander Additional DIG Mozammel Haque revealed the matter at a press briefing held at RAB-13 (Rangpur) Headquarters Monday (May 13).

One of the detainees Shakil, 19, allegedly raped a first-grader girl in Kuptula union under Gaibandha sadar upazila on the night of May 5.

Shakil was arrested in a drive carried out in Patgram upazila of Lalmonithat.

The victim's grandmother, as a plaintiff, filed a case with Gaibandha Sadar Police Station on May 6.

In Dinajpur, one Ariful Islam, 16, allegedly raped a first-grader girl at a maize field in Ranipukur union under Birol upazila on May 8.

The victim's mother, as a plaintiff, filed a case on the same day.

Ariful was arrested in a drive carried out in Birol upazila Sunday night.

During primary interrogation, the two accused confessed to raping the victims.

Legal action is in progress against the accused, said RAB-13 Commander Mozammel Haque.
