Agreed that Bangladesh squad in ICC Men’s T20 World is not best that could be put together from the available resources .It can not be also denied that BCB is taking a great risk with as many as seven rookies in a global tournament of experienced T20 operators. Experience always counts in crunch matches against formidable oppositions. In the past Bangladesh lost matches against Pakistan and India from seemingly winning positions . Having younger players in the team gives an advantage that they do not care for past reputations .They only care for playing carefree explosive cricket for making names for themselves. Bangladesh is the youngest side of the tournament .

 Team Tigers in the Tournament would not be a mere push overs. They would definitely qualify for the super 12 finishing on top of their qualification matches .The team has quality for winning at least two of even three matches in the Super 12. But T20 matches require deep attention and concentration. A single over can change the entire complexions of the game . An inspired bowling spell or explosive by even one batsman can win matches. Two or three such players are still there in the Bangladesh team who would be eager to write their names among the movers and shakers of modern day cricket. 
What Should Be Bangladesh Strategy?
We do not think that the wickets at Oman would be lightening fast. We do not think Scotland ,Oman and Papua New Gunea would have many players that would have quality for surviving against crafts  of master cricketer Shakib and brilliance of Mustafiz. Even Taskin and Saifuddin would be useful against them .Bangladesh has to plan whether to play with three pacers or check whether Mehedi or Nasum would be spinning option in addition to Shakib . Afif and Mahmudullah should bowl couple of overs in the matches of the qualifying round if situation permits. Bangladesh must set winning combinations in the three matches. Would suggest setting Mustafiz ,Saifudding and Either Taskin or Shoriful for the pace attack. If Soumya is in the side he can also be an added option for bowling couple of overs . Bangladesh has to restrict opposition below 160 as their batting lacks depth and diversity.

The last minute denial of star opener Tamim for not making himself available for national duty has served big blow to whatever plans BCB had made. They were left with no choice but settle with Liton, Naim and Soumya as options for the opener spot. Liton and Soumya were going through a very lean patch. Though they are not the ideal players for playing on the wickets those were offered at SBNCS yet they lacked adaptability which are expected from professional cricketers .Sheikh Momammad Naim looked much better . The openers have to give good start or at least see off the first burst of  quality fast bowlers those the top teams would unleash in the matches of super 12. Bangladesh must have flexible plan about number three If there is a fall of early wicket Shakib must not be exposed. Looking Shakib as well in the tide would cause bleeding. Rather Sohan or Afif should be promoted covering Shakib. If the openers stay together for four overs or so scoring 30 that would be ideal platform for launching Shakib for creating the momentum. Otherwise he should be slotted at number followed by nucleus Mushfique and silent killer Mahmudullah, Sohan, Afif and Saifuddin have to play out of their skin for producing a defendable score . Off course one among Shakib, Mushfique and Mahmudullah have to bat deep till the end. Bangladesh should have had Mosaddeq in the squad . If planned properly Sabbir could be mentored and made ready. Options for the late order batting is very limited. Hope Shamim Patwary pays back the confidence that BCB authorities have on him playing some quick fire 30-40 runs innings when given opportunity.  He is a brilliant fielder. 

I know writing from the comfort of a lovely looking Melbourne garden with blooming flowers all around and hot humid desert play grounds are vastly different. But Bengal tigers are not there to win the trophy. No sensible cricket admirers would even dream for that. But team tigers still have resources to win matches and win against big opposition.
