Rain halts Tigers’ progress

DHAKA: After the fall of top orders batting line of Bangladesh, rain interrupted push for recovering from the tensed situation in the first innings of second Test against New Zealand Monday.

Just before tea break, heavy rainfall ruined the prospects of recovering from the falling situation in the afternoon. The total score was 228 runs for 5 wickets in 54.4 over.

Tamim Iqbal, Mominul Haque, Marshal Ayub, Shakib Al Hasan and Anamul Haque returned to the pavilion scoring 95, 47, 41, 20 and 7 runs respectively. N Wagner bagged two while Anderson, Wagner and Boult got one wicket each.

Bangladesh were forced to make one change, due to Robiul Islam`s injury. Seamer Al-Amin Hossain made his debut in Robiul`s place, becoming the country`s 70th Test player.

New Zealand had included the left-arm fast bowler Neil Wagner in place of the left-arm spinner Bruce Martin.
