Nepal beat Ireland by 8-wkt

DHAKA: Nepal Under-19s beat Ireland Under-19s by eight wickets with 147 balls to spare in the 13th Match of ICC Under-19 World Cup at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium at Fatullah in Narayanganj on Saturday (January 30).

Earlier in the day, Ireland Under-19 team captain J Tector won the toss and elected to bat first in the Group D.

Tight bowling by young Nepalese did not let them score much. Ireland managed to score a meager 131 runs losing nine wickets from their 50-over quota.

S Lamichhane picked up the maiden hat-trick in the match. He picked up five wickets giving away only 27-run from his 10-over quota. Besides, DS Airee took two.

H Tector, J Tector, A Dennison, L Tucker and S Doheny scored 30, 27, 21, 15 and 14 runs respectively, help Ireland to reach the total.

In response, Nepal Under 19 team managed to score 132 runs losing only two wickets in 25.3-over to chase the target down.

YS Karki hit 61-run while Aarif Sheikh and S Dhamala took 31 and 28 runs respectively.

The match kicked off at 9:00 in the morning at Bangladesh time.

Ireland Under-19s lost their first match to India while Nepal Under-19s stunned New Zealand in their first match.
