Bangladesh stutter after day-2

DHAKA: Bangladesh batsmen are stuttering in their first innings at the end of day-2 of the second Test match against Pakistan at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.

Bangladesh scored 107-run losing five wickets at the end of day-2. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim was out in the penultimate ball of the day. Shakib Al Hasan is at the crease with 14-run.

Junaid Khan and Yasir Shah took two wickets each while Wahab Riaz picked up the other.

Bangladesh are trailing by 450-run and they need another 251 to avoid follow-on.

Earlier, Pakistan batsmen made a huge total of 557-run, thanks to double ton by Azhar Ali and centuries by Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq. Azhar scored 226-run while Younis and Asad amassed 148 and 107 runs respectively.

Taijul Islam was the most successful bowler of Bangladesh. He picked up three wickets while Mohammad Shahid and Shuvagata Hom took two each. Shakib Al Hasan took the other Pakistan wicket.

Azhar Ali resumed the innings with Misbah-ul-Haq on the other end of the crease while Mohammad Shahid bowled the first over of the second day.

Shakib Al Hasan bowled out Misbah in the second over before Pakistan added no run to the scoreboard.

On Wednesday, Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and decided to field first on the slightly grassy pitch.
 
Tigers managed to send back three Pakistan batsmen. However, centuries from veteran Yunus Khan and Azhar Ali steered Pakistan to 325 runs after the end of first day’s play.
