West Indies facing Indian bowlers

DHAKA: West Indies are facing defending champion India’s bowling attacks in the teams’ ICC World Cup Pool B match at Western Australia Cricket Association Ground in Perth on Friday.

The match kicked off at 12:30pm Bangladesh time.

Till filling of this report, West Indies have scored six runs for no loss at the end of over-4.

Dwayne Smith (6 off 16 balls) began West Indies’ innings with Chris Gayle is on another end of the crease while India’s Mohammed Shami bowled the first over.

Earlier, West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and decided to bat first.

"Looks like a good wicket," Holder says. "We want to put the runs on the board, and it's just up to us to defend it."
India’s captain MS Dhoni says the pitch won't change too much, so he's not too disappointed to be chasing.

West Indies picked the extra fast bowler: Kemar Roach is in for Sulieman Benn. Mohammed Shami returns for India, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar is out.

India, in previous in three matches of the tournament, has ticked almost every box required for them to defend their World Champions title. All three wins have been easy.

India’s all-round performance made them look easy. India will also look to give games to the reserve players before the knockouts begin.

West Indies’ performance has swung from brilliant to abysmal in their four matches, losing to Ireland and South Africa and beating Pakistan and Zimbabwe.

This game is also crucial for them in terms of their standing in the points table. Although ranked third currently, below India and South Africa, West Indies have Pakistan and Ireland trying to pip them to the post.
