Cricket WC trophy arrives in afternoon

DHAKA: The Cricket World Cup-2015 trophy is set to arrive in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon as it passes through countries that will participate in the tournament to be staged in Australia and New Zealand from February 14, 2015.

Acting chief executive of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed the matter.     
 
The trophy will arrive at the BCB office first. During its stay, the trophy will feature at a number of events, says a press release on July 3.

Cricket fans will get the chance to capture photograph of the trophy on Friday in the display, he added.      

Through a press release on Wednesday BCB said that the prestigious silverware would be on display on the ground floor of the Bashundhara City Shopping Mall from 12:00pm to 8:00pm.        

There would be a photo session of the trophy at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium with Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim.

This trophy is a real one not replica, BCB sources added.

Bangladesh’s first match is against qualifier Afghanistan at Manuka Oval, Canberra, on February 18, 2015 while the World Cup Cricket-2015 is scheduled to start from February 14, it added.

However, after visiting 12 countries over four months, the trophy will arrive in Melbourne on November 6 in time for the 100 days to go celebrations, details of which will be announced in due course.
