Shakib apologizes, appeals Shakib Al Hasan

DHAKA: World top all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who has been suspended for six months, came to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to appeal for withdrawal of the suspension on him.

After he talked to Bangladesh Cricket Operations Committee before the appeal, he appealed against the ban from all types of domestic and international cricket awarded by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The cricketer came to Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium to appeal but did not talk to media. He reads out a paper saying:

“Assalamu Alaikum. I say sorry to my nation and BCB. I beg pardon if the BCB and Bangladesh team feel affected. I also apologise to my fans, supporters and sports loving people.

‘It is really difficult to keep myself away from cricket. I have been playing cricket since Under-15 with the logo of BCB. This is a matter of pride for me.’

I want to work more for our national team again. I have been grown up under the care of BCB and the national team.

I appeal to the BCB for their reconsideration of the withdrawal of my suspension.”

Just after finishing the written speech Shakib left the place.

Shakib was expected to go to the BCB on Saturday, but later the sources said that he would come Sunday noon.

Without taking No Objection Certificate (NOC) from BCB, Shakib went to Barbados to play Caribbean League just on verbal nods. He left Dhaka with his wife on July 2.

He then returned to the country on July 6 as BCB showed their objection on NOC. On the following day, July 7, BCB in an emergency meeting suspended Shakib for six months from National Team and one and a half years from leagues outside the country.

The BCB board president and other directors indicated that Shakib’s appeal can be considered.
