Bangladesh’s hopes of leveling the T20 series were dashed by a ruthless Pakistani comeback as the hosts secured a 57-run victory in the second T20I at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, clinching the three-match series 2–0 with one game remaining.
Chasing a stiff target of 202, Bangladesh made a blistering start, with opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim launching an aggressive assault that saw the visitors rack up 32 runs in the opening two overs. His knock of 33, featuring four boundaries and a six, hinted at a promising chase.
But the momentum was short-lived. A dramatic collapse saw Bangladesh lose five wickets for just 18 runs, tumbling from 38 without loss to 56 for five. Parvez Hossain Emon (8), Litton Das (6), Towhid Hridoy (5), and Tanzid all fell in quick succession as Pakistan wrested control.
Shamim Hossain and Rishad Hossain departed soon after, reducing the visitors to 78 for seven. A late resistance came from Mehidy Hasan Miraz (23) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who struck a brisk 50 off 31 balls, but Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 144. Injured Shoriful Islam did not bat.
Spinner Abrar Ahmed led Pakistan’s bowling attack with three wickets.
Earlier, Pakistan, opting to bat, overcame the early dismissal of Saim Ayub to post a formidable 201 for six. A 103-run stand between Sahibzada Farhan (74 off 41) and Mohammad Haris (41 off 25) laid the foundation before Hasan Nawaz’s unbeaten 51 off 26 balls lifted the total in the final overs.
Pakistan had won the opening match by 37 runs. The third and final T20I will be played on Sunday, also in Lahore.
