Kings qualify for Federation Cup semis

Bashundhara Kings qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing ABG Bashundhara Federation Cup 2023-24 after beating Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society by 2-0 goals in the second quarterfinal at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Tuesday (April 16).

Midfielder Sohel Rana opened the account for his side with a grounder outside of the box in the 25th minute while Nigerian forward Mfon Sunday Udoh doubled the margin with a chip shot from the edge of the box in the 62nd minute. 

Both goals were assisted by Kings’ Brazilian captain Robson Robinho.

Kings will now feature in the second semifinal against the winners of the fourth quarterfinal between Abahani Limited Dhaka and Fortis Football Club on 14 May at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj.

The fourth quarterfinal is scheduled to be held on 30 April at the Bashundhara Kings Arena.

Earlier, holders Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd qualified for the semifinals after beating Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd by 2-1 goals in the first quarterfinal in Gopalganj on 2 April.

Mohammedan will play the first semifinal against the winners of the third quarterfinal between Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd and Police FC on 7 May at the Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.  

The third quarterfinal is scheduled on 23 April in Gopalganj.
