Bashundhara Kings reach Independence Cup semis

Bashundhara Kings reached the semifinals of the ongoing Independence Cup 2023 after beating Bangladesh Army by 2-1 goals in their quarterfinal match at the Bashundhara Kings Arena today (December 5).

Kings’ Uzbek defender Boburbek Yuldashov took a lead in the 39th minute, but  Army's forward Sahariar Emon scored an equaliser in the 61st minute.  

Brazilian forward Dorielton Nascimento scored the match winner after 11 minutes in the 76th minute.  

Earlier this day, Mohammedan Sporting Club qualified for the semis after beating Chittagong Abahoni Ltd by 1-0 goal in the other quarterfinal at the Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

Uzbek midfielder Muzaffar Muzaffarov scored the lone goal in the 97th minute of the added time after a barren stipulated 90 minutes. 

Dhaka Abahani Ltd and Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Society have already confirmed their spots for the semifinals on Sunday.
Dhaka Abahani beat Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd in a nail-biting tie-breaker by 3(1)-2(1) goals while Rahamatganj beat Police Football Club by 2-1 goals in their respective quarterfinal matches, both at the Kings Arena.  

Kings play against Dhaka Abahani in the second semifinal while Rahamatganj will face the winners between Mohammedan in the other semifinal, both on 15 December.
