War crimes accused ex-MP MA Hannan dies

Former MP of Mymensingh-7 (Trishal) constituency MA Hannan died of old age complications early Tuesday. He was 86.

He breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) while undergoing treatment around 5.15 am.

Mahbubul Islam, jailer of Dhaka Central Jail, confirmed his death.

He added that Hannan was admitted to the BSMMU from Kashimpur Jail on June 6. He was suffering from various old age complications.

On October 1, 2015, former Jatiya Party lawmaker MA Hannan was arrested at his Gulshan home on charge of committing crimes against humanity in the country's Liberation War in 1971.
