Senior Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Ahsan Habib Khan will be performing duties of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), till Kazi Habibul Awal recovers from Covid-19.

Election Commission (EC) Deputy Secretary Md. Shah Alam issued a notice regarding this on Thursday (Sep 15).

"Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal is tested positive for Covid-19, during his absence Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Md. Ahsan Habib Khan will perform the routine duties as Chief Election Commissioner," said the notice.

Earlier, due to fever, CEC could not attend the 12th National Assembly Election Roadmap Release Ceremony on Wednesday (September 14).
