At least five persons in a private car were killed as a girder of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project fell on the vehicle in Dhaka's Uttara area on Monday afternoon (Aug 15).
The accident took place around 4pm, said Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Uttara West Police Station.
Of the diseased, four were identified as Rubel (50), Jharna (28) and two children Jannat (6) and Zakaria (2).
He said in the afternoon, a girder of the elevated expressway of the BRT project in front of Aarong's showroom fell on the private car while it was being moved by a crane, leaving five passengers of the vehicle dead on the spot and two others injured.
Hridoy (26) and Rhea Moni (21) were taken to the hospital, he added.
Rescue operation is on, the OC added.
