Two killed in Chattogram train-bus-auto collision

Two people were killed and 10 others injured in a three-way collision between a bus, an auto-rickshaw and a Demu train at Jautala rail crossing in Khulshi area in Chattogram on Saturday.

According to locals, the accident took place as a train hit the bus and CNG-run autorickshaw at the rail crossing around 11:00am.

The deceased were identified as Monir Hossain, 40, a police constable and Syed Bahauddin Ahmed, 30, son of Syed Sohraf Hossain of Hamzarbagh area under Panchlaish police station.

Chittagong Railway Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury told Banglanews that the diesel-electric multiple unit (Demu) train crashed into the bus and the CNG-run auto-rickshaw at the level crossing, leaving two dead on the spot.

The injured were rescued and rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), he added.
