4 surrender during RAB raid at Sirajganj 'militant den'

Four suspected militants surrendered hours after Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) launched a raid at a house, suspecting it to be a hideout, in Ukilpara area under Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj on Friday morning.

One of the surrendered men was identified as Kiran while the rest are yet to be identified.

RAB cordoned off the house around 5:00 am today. A bomb disposal unit of the elite force entered the house around 10:30 am, said RAB-12 Acting Company Commander in Sirajganj Muhammad Mohiuddin Miraj to Banglanews.

Earlier on Thursday night, RAB arrested four active members of Neo JMB, an offshoot of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), from Rajshahi's Shah Makhdum area. Based on information given by those JMB men, RAB carried out the raid in Sirajganj.

Lt Col Ashik Billah, director (legal and media wing) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said four men surrendered but there are more hiding inside the house in Sirajganj. The raid is still ongoing and details on the matter will be disclosed later at a press briefing.
