Two teenage boys drowned after a fishing trawler capsized in the Meghna River near Bangla Bazar Ghat area under Charishwar Union in Hatiya Upazila of Noakhali on Thursday night.

Their floating bodies were recovered on Friday morning.

The deceased are- Md Insaf, 16, son of Md Rahmat from Char Koilash village under Charking union of the upazila, and Rajib, 13, son of Md Faruk, from Charishwar union.

Confirming the matter, Hatia Police Station Officer-In-Charge (OC) Md Abul Khayer said the fishing trawler, carrying 10 people, capsized mid-river due to adverse weather. Eight of the fishermen managed to swim ashore while the duo went missing following the incident.
