5 cops sued over Khulna Thana gang rape

KHULNA:  As per the directive of a Khulna court, a case was filed against five policemen including the OC for gang raping a woman in Khulna GRP (railway) Police Station on August 2.

The victim woman filed the case with GRP (railway) Police Station on Saturday (August 10).

Officer-in-Charge of Khulna GRP (railway) Police Station Osman Gani Pathan, duty officer of that night and three unidentified three police members were made accused in the case, Assistant Superintendent of Kushtia Police (ASP) Firoz Ahmed, told Banglanews.

The case was registered under the Custody Torture and Death Prevention Act 2013 as per the directive of a senior judicial magistrate of Khulna court.

On Thursday (August 8), two probe bodies interrogated the woman.

OC Osman Gani Pathan and Sub Inspector (SI) Nazmul Haque were closed for ganging the woman.

A woman came to Khulna from Jashore by a train on the night of August 2. She was taken to Khulna Railway Station on charge of mobile theft. Deep at night, Osman Gani Pathan raped her. Later, four other policemen raped her in turns.

Next day, they produced her before the court on charge of having three bottles of phensidyles. The woman disclosed everything happened to her at the night. Judicial magistrate ordered medical test of the incident.
