MYMENSINGH: Two persons were killed in a rival clash over road construction work at Sheuly village in Gafargaon upazila of the district on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Kalu Khan, 60, and Samad Khan, 55.
Quoting locals, police said there was longstanding clash between Mir and Khan supporters over the land to construct a road to go mosque.
The two groups locked into a quarrel that resulted a clash in the area around 10:00am, leaving Kalu Khan dead on the spot and Samad critically injured.
Later, Samad was taken to the Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 12:00pm.
Pagla Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Badrul Alam Chowdhury confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Two persons were also detained in this connection, the OC added.
