NAWABGANJ, DHAKA: Two robbers were beaten to death and five others injured by angry mob in Rasulbagh area under Keraniganj Upazila of the district Monday night.

One of the deceased was identified as Sohag, 28, son of Rohit of Medinimandal village under Louhajanj Upazila of Munshiganj district while the injured are Manju, Liton, Shah Alam, Suruj and Arfi. More details of the injured were not available.

Police sources said that a gang of robbers, numbering seven, was taking preparation for robbery in Atipara Gulborg area of Rasulbagh around 11:00pm.

Sensing the robbers’ presence, locals chased and caught five of gang members and handed over them to nearby Singiar Thana after a mass beating. However, two of gang members escaped the chasing.

Several moments after, villagers managed to catch the two escapees in Rasulbag area and subsequently, gave them a mass beating that left the duo dead on the spot.

Singiar Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Syeduzzaman of Manikganj and Keraniganj Model Thana OC Majibur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
