A low-pressure area has developed over the northern Bay of Bengal, prompting authorities to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3 at all maritime ports in Bangladesh.
The Meteorological Department issued the warning on Monday (Sept 22), cautioning that squally weather is likely along the coast.
Meteorologist Kh. Hafizur Rahman said the low-pressure system generates convective cloud formations over the northern Bay and adjoining areas.
As a result, gusty or squally winds may sweep across Bangladesh's maritime zones, coastal regions, and ports.
Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports have been advised to keep local warning signal No. 3 hoisted.
Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
