DHAKA: Class-4 employees started demonstrating at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in city on Monday.

The demonstration, centering the appointment of an employee at the hospital general store, began at 11:45am in front of DMCH administration block.

An agitating employee Shamsul Alam told banglanews that the administration has appointed one Rezaul Karim ignoring the promotion of the existing employees.

‘We protest the appointment,’ he added.

Class-4 employee council president Abdul Khaleque said, ‘We have many qualified employees to be promoted. But the administration has appointed a person from outside’.

DMCH assistant director (administration) Dr Khaza Abdul Gafur said, the DG office appointed the person following the rules and regulations.

‘We have nothing to do regarding the appointment,’ he added.
