DHAKA: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel rescued six Bangladeshis, who were trying to go to Malaysia illegally, from the Bay of Bengal.

The fortune seekers were rescued at the wee hour of Monday.

Confirming the matter to banglanews BGB public relations officer (PRO) Muhammad Mohsin Reza said that as a part of the anti-trafficking operations, they conducted a drive and rescued six Bangladeshis from Merullah Char area near Myanmar border in the Bay.

Identities of the rescued people could not be known immediately.

The rescued people will be handed over to police, he added.
