KURIGRAM: Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran said the friendly relation between the two countries has further deepened through passage of the Land Boundary Agreement bill in the Lok Sabha.
According to the 1974 Indira-Mujib agreement, enclave residents will soon get citizenship of that country where the enclaves were situated, he said.
Pankaj Saran came up with assertion while exchanging views with enclave residents at Dasiar Chhara enclave inside the Fulbari upazila of Kurigram district on Sunday.
Earlier on Thursday, India Lok Sabha unanimously passed the 119th constitution amendment bill to implement the much-awaited Land Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh to settle the four-decade-old border disputes and exchange enclaves on either side of the border.
Three days after the passage of LBA bill, the view exchange meeting was held at the bank of Nilkumor River, adjacent to Indo-bangla border.
Pankaj said Dasiar Chhara is the biggest one among Indian enclaves inside Bangladesh. So, I visited it at first. In the same way, I will interact with the residents of the enclaves located in Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari and Panchagarh districts gradually.

Divisional Commissioner Sandip Mitra, Dasiar Chhara enclave president Altaf Hossain, Enclave Exchange Coordination Committee Bangladesh unit general secretary Golam Mostafa, , enclaves exchange coordination committee law adviser Abraham Lincoln, Fulbari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Nasir Uddin Mahmud, Senior Assistant Police Super Masud Alam, were, among others, spoke in the meeting.
