DHAKA: Narayanganj ward commissioner Nur Hossain, the prime accused of killing seven people after abduction in April 2014, was suspended after more than one year of the incident.

Nur Hossian was suspended under the Local Government Act-2009 and the suspension order was published on Thursday night, said local government ministry senior assistant secretary Jasim Uddin Haider.

The order, which was issued Thursday night, was revealed on Sunday noon.

On April 27, 2014, seven people, including Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker, were abducted, allegedly by Rapid Action Battalion personnel from the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road.

Later, their bodies were found floating in the River Sitalakhya a couple of days.

After abduction, Nazrul’s family members filed case making Nur Hossian key accused.

During the time, Nur Hossian fled away and went to India. Later, West Bengal Police Specail Taskforce arrested him from a house of Kolkata’s Baguihati area on June 14 last year.

Nur Hossain is now facing a charge in an Indian court along with his two associates for trespassing.
