MEHERPUR: Two people including a woman were killed as thunderbolt struck them in separate places in Gangni Upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Bilkis Ara, 25, wife of Saudi Arabia expatriate Liton Hossain, of Kazipur village and Atiar Rahman, 60, a van puller, of Chargoal village of the upazila.

Locals told banglanews that nor'wester hit across the upazila around 7:30am, followed by repeated strikes of lightning that left the woman and the elderly man dead at their houses.

Gangni Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Akram Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
