BENAPOLE, JESSORE: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) gunned down two Bangladeshi cattle traders in Ghonar Maath area in Putkhali border of Benapole in the district early Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Aku, 28, son of Azizul Islam, and Shanto, 35, son of Abdus Sattar of Putkhali area.
Locals said that a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders went to India Friday night to bring cattle, crossing Putkhali border. BSF fired gunshots on them at Ghonar Maath while returning home with cattle early Saturday, leaving Aku and Shanto bullet-hit.
Shanto succumbed to his injuries in Kagajpukur area of Benapole on way to Nabharan Health Complex. The fellows left the body there and took Aku to hospital where he died around 8:00am.
On information, police recovered the body of Aku from the hospital while family took Shanto’s body from the area.
Benapole Port Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Apurba Hasan confirmed the matter of the BSF firing and the deaths to banglanews.
