Buriganga trawler capsize toll now 16

NARAYANGANJ: Five more bodies, aged between 20 and 25 years, were recovered Saturday morning, raising the death toll to 16 in  trawler capsize in the Buriganga River at Pagla in Sadar upazila of the district.

Of the deceased, 13 were identified as Abdus Samd, 35, Habib, 12, son of Abdul Aziz,  Alamgir Hossain, 30, son of Korban Ali, Jamila Khatun, 65, wife of Abdur Rashid of Lalbagh Shahidnagar area of Dhaka and Rasel, 19, son of Rajkumar in city’s Lalbagh area, Sagor, 11, Rubel Mia, 24, Rubel Matabber, 16, son of Wahab Matabber Md Samir, 40, Kajal Mia, 28, Swapan, 22 and Karamjan Bibi, 65 of Lalbagh in Dhaka, Jakir Hossain, 30, son of Nur Uddin of Mirpur.

Deputy Director of Narayanganj Fire Service Mamtaz Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews on Saturday.

The rescue unit of fire service recovered the bodies till this morning, he added.

Earlier on Thursday, a trawler with 80 passengers on board capsized in Buriganga River at Pagla in Sadar upazila of the district as it collided head-on with a sand-laden trawler.
