SIRAJGANJ: A Sirajganj court on Tuesday handed down life term imprisonment to four and also fined Tk 20,000 each, in default, six months’ jail in a madrasa student murder case.
The convict are Rakibul Islam, son of one Ayen Sarker, Jewel Hossain, son of one Sohrab Ali, A Salam, son of one late Jabarat Pramanik and Abdul Jabbar, son of one Yasin Pramanik, all hailed from Subaidya Marich village under Betkandi union of Ullapara union of the district.
The court also acquitted two others of the charge as they were found innocent.
District and session judge Fazle Khoda M Najir of the court passed the verdict this noon.
Case statement said on December 10 of 2009, convicts called Hasmat Ali, a student of class IX of Bogra Dakhil Madrasa at Udhunia union of Ullapara upazila, out of his house and stabbed him indiscriminately in the evening, leaving him critically injured.
He was admitted to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital from where doctors shifted him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital that night.
Hasmat Ali succumbed to his injuries after a few hours, the statement added.
Victim’s father Aynal Haq filed a law suit against seven with Sairajganj Amali Court.
Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, Sub-Inspector of Ullapara Thana Abdul Bari, submitted the charge sheet against six after the investigation.
