DINAJPUR: At least 10 people were injured in a clash between police and BNP leaders-activists in Munshipara area of the district town Monday.
Law enforcers, however, detained eight leaders-activists of BNP from the spot.
District Chhatra Dal member secretary Moksedul Islam Tutul said BNP men brought out protest procession from jail road office around 11:45am as part of central programme but police dispersed them.
Later, they took out another procession in the same area but police charged tear shells and baton, leaving 10 people injured.
The injured were sent to Dinajpur Sadar Hospital.
But officer-in-charge Khalekuzzaman of Kotwali Thana told banglanews that acting on tip off that BNP will try to create sabotage in name of protest procession, police obstructed them.
Being obstructed, BNP men attacked police and law enforcer also retaliated with charging of tear shells and batons.
