Youth dies in old Dhaka scuffle

DHAKA: A young man died after receiving injuries during a scuffle with his fellows near Bangshal Nazirabazar intersection in old Dhaka early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Rubel, 25, worker of a shoe factory and son of Shamsul Haque in Nangalkot area of Comilla.

Police of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) outpost detained Riaz and Yusuf, two of co-workers of the deceased.

The detainees said a scuffle ensued among them over a trifling matter in front of their factory in the area around 2:00am.

At one stage, Rubel fell down on the road that left him injured.

Rubel was taken to emergency department of DMCH where the attending doctors declared him dead around 3:00am.

The deceased’s uncle Mannan said Rubel was speech-impaired.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Babul Miah of Dhaka Medical Camp confirmed the matter.
