2 Cox’s Bazar ‘Razakars’ arrested

COX’S BAZAR:  Police arrested two suspected Razakars of Cox’s Bazar from district town and Moheshkhali Upazila on Sunday on allegation of crimes against humanity committed during liberation war.

Salamat Ullah Khan, former president of Cox’s Bazar chamber and founding member of BNP, while Mohammad Rashid, former lawmaker of BNP.

A team of Sadar thana police picked up Salamat Ullah Khan from his residence at district town at noon while Moheshkhali thana police nabbed Mohammad Rashid.

Police source said according to arrest order issued by International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), the duo were arrested and process is underway to send them to ICT.

Three cases were filed with Chakaria, Pekua and Moheshkhali Upazilas of the district accusing 25 people for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity.

The arrestees were accused in Moheshkhali thana case.
