RAMU, Cox's Bazar: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the members of the armed forces to remain prepared to prevent any threat to constitution and democracy of the country.

She was addressing a program of raising the flags of 10 Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army at Ramu Cantonment Sunday.

PM Hasina said, “In the past, armed forces always extended their support to her government in delivering service to the people and I hope in future they will also stand beside the people in their needs.”

“The root of the evil forces should be eliminated from the country for the interest of development and prosperity,” she added.

The premier also urged the army to remain careful about the surge of militancy and terrorism saying all of us have to remain aware so that militancy or terrorism cannot raise their head by any means.

Cabinet members, opposition leader Rowshan Ershad, PM's special envoy and former president HM Ershad, chiefs of Bangladesh Naval Force and Bangladesh Air Force, parliament members, diplomats and senior military and civil officials were present in the program.

Earlier in the day, a helicopter carrying the premier landed at helipad in Ramu around 10:40am. Army Chief General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan welcomed the primer.
