Unidentified body found in Chattogram city

An unidentified body was recovered from a roadside drain near the CNG station at Tigerpass intersection in Chattogram city on Friday (July 18).

Locals spotted the body floating face down in the drain around noon and immediately informed the police. Law enforcement officials, with assistance from the Fire Service, recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for post-mortem examination.

According to police, the deceased was wearing a vest and lungi. Officers suspect that the person may have died due to a heart attack or drug-related causes before accidentally falling into the drain.

“It appears the body may have drifted to this location from another area,” said Aftab Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Khulshi Police Station.

He said, “We are working to identify the deceased and reviewing nearby CCTV footage for any clues.”

A case of unnatural death has been filed in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway, he added.
