Militants sued over blogger Avijit killing Avijit Roy

DHAKA: Former Dhaka University professor Ajay Roy on Friday filed a case with the Shahbagh Thana accusing militants of killing his son blogger and writer Avijit Roy.

Shahbagh Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Sirajul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Sirajul said that, in the case, Ajay Roy made country’s militant groups accused of the killing.

Police are trying to catch the killers since the assassination, the OC added.

On Thursday, unknown assailants attacked blogger and writer Avijit Roy and his wife Rafida Ahmed Banya at TSC intersection of Dhaka University (DU) on their way back from Amar Ekushey Book Fair at around 8:45pm.

The assailants hacked Abhijit to death and injured Rafida severely. 

37-year-old Avijit was the founder and one of the founding moderators of Bangla language blog mukto-mona.com. The couple had been living in USA for last several years.
