NETROKONA: A district court on Wednesday sentenced five persons to death for raping a teenage girl.

Woman and Children Repression Prevention tribunal justice and also District and Sessions Judge Dr AKM Abul Kashem passed the order at noon and also fined Tk 25,000 each.

The death convicts are-- Shamin, son of Mokshed Ali of Kaldowar village under Purbadhola upazila, Vikon and Tikon, sons of Montoz Rangdi, Tapash, son of late Narendra Shema and Rup Miah, son of Yunus Ali of Budhi village.

Among them, Rup Miah still remained fugitive.

Public prosecutor (PP) of the case GM Khan Bimol told banglanews that Selina, daughter of Hasen Ali of Bahadur village, was on way to her relative’s house at Satpati of Purbadhola upazila by rickshaw along with her mother and brother-in-law.

The five convicts halted the rickshaw when it reached Kumarkali Bridge and asked her mother and brother-in-law to leave the place issuing death threat. Later they forcefully took Selina in a quiet place and raped her, the PP added.
