DHAKA: Customs intelligence detained two passengers with 161 pieces of gold, weighing 18.7 kilograms worth about Tk 9.35 crore, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Wednesday.

The detainees-- Shamsuddin of Chandpur and Abu Sayed of Chittagong--landed at the airport by a flight of Emirates Airlines (EK-582) from Dubai this morning.

Moinul Islam Khan, director general (DG) of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department, confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On suspicion, officials challenged them and found the gold bars after searching their bodies around 8:30am, added the DG.
