DHAKA: The Election Commission (EC) secretary Sirazul Islam said that two more weeks are needed for the field-level preparations of North and South Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) polls.
The EC secretary made the disclosure to the journalists at his office on Tuesday.
Sirazul Islam said that most of the preparations regarding the polls have been taken but they need two more weeks to prepare the compact disk (CD) of voter-list and to demark the areas.
He also said a report will be submitted to the EC after the field-level preparations.
Then the EC will decide about the schedule and the polls dates as well, he added.
He commented that the prevailing political circumstance will play a vital role to fix the date of the polls.
Sirazul Islam said that there was a complication regarding the boundary of South DCC.
“We sought assistance from local government ministry. In response, a notification was sent for taking preparation for the election,” he added.
According to him, they are following the instructions to arrange the DCC polls as soon as possible.
