DHAKA: The two-day polls of Dhaka Bar Association, country’s largest lawyers’ organization, will be held on February 25 and 26.

A number of 61 candidates from pro-Awami League ‘White Panel’, Pro-BNP and Jamaat ‘Blue Panel’ and independent candidates’ ‘Green Panel’ will vie for a total of 25 posts, including the association president and general secretary.

The Dhaka Bar chief election commissioner Advocate SM Altaf Hossain told banglanews that more than 10,000 lawyers will chose their leaders for 2015-16 by casting their votes.

According to the voter-list, a total of 15,372 voters are eligible to cast their votes this year.

Candidates have already started their campaign distributing leaflets, cards and sending SMS as well.

However, the BNP-Jamaat backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya (Blue Panel) swept the Dhaka Bar Association elections 2014-15 by bagging 18 posts out of 25, including the president and general secretary posts.

On the other hand, the ruling Awami League-backed Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parishad (White Panel) secured only six posts in that elections.
