‘Army won’t make mistake’ Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Faruk Khan

DHAKA: Former commerce minister Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Faruk Khan on Tuesday categorically said Bangladesh Army would not make any mistake by interfering in the country’s political affairs.

The ruling Awami League leader made the assertion while addressing a human chain program in front of the National Press Club protesting the ongoing violence across the country.

Gopalganj Zila Samity in Dhaka organized the event.

He said, “BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia also sacked many army personnel in 1996. Besides, her husband Ziaur Rahman killed a good number of army staff in 1975.”

Faruk Khan also claimed that army would not make any mistake now. He also urged people to prevent conspiracy against the country.

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, freedom fighters’ council vice-president Ismat Kadir Gama, former MP Nazma Akhter, Swechhasebak League president M Abu Kausar Mollah and President of the organization Sheikh Kabir Hossain were among others present at the protest program.
