DHAKA: Customs intelligence detained one person with gold worth of Tk 55 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Saturday.

Sources said the detainee, Sahab Uddin, arrived here from Pakistan in the morning.

Customs authorities, after challenging him, found the gold in Sahab Uddin’s jacket while he was passing through the green channel of the airport.

Customs joint commissioner Kazi Zia Uddin said that the detainee is being interrogated about the gold.

He added: “A case will also be filed in this connection after the interrogation.”
