DHAKA: The body of Jihad, ill fated four-year-old kid who was declared dead immediately after been rescued from a several-hundred-feet hole at city's Shahjahanpur, is being taken to his village in Shariatpur on Sunday.
His maternal uncle Monir Hossain told banglanews that he is taking Jihad’s body to their residence at Nagarpara village under Goshaier Hat thana of Shariatpur as his sister and brother-in-law already went there.
“We couldn’t take Jihad’s body to their Shahjahanpur home area due to lack of times,” he added. “The Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) authorities handed over his body in the morning after completing all formalities including autopsy.”
However, according to the post mortem report, Jihad died of drowning in the water after suffering head injury inside the 400 feet deep pipe.
The ill fated kid fell inside the 17-inch diameter shaft, around 40 yards from his house in Shahjahanpur of the capital, on Friday afternoon, while playing with other children.
Fire service and Civil Defense failed to rescue him after 23 hours frantic effort and called off the operation.
Just after 15 minutes, when the fire service authorities left the hope of rescuing the boy, three local pump cleaners -- Rahmat, Abdullah Al Mamun and Sujan Das -- rescued the kid by their brave effort.
But, immediately after he had been rescued, the trapped four-year-old Jihad was declared dead at DMCH on Saturday afternoon.
