15 countries’ MPs to join seminar

DHAKA: The members of parliament of 15 countries of Asia-Pacific are joining in a three-day long seminar in city on Tuesday.

Bangladesh National Parliament and Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) are jointly organizing the seminar titled ‘Ending the cycle of violence against girls in Asia pacific’ in city’s Pan Pacific Shonargaon Hotel.

The representatives from 15 countries and international organizations have already reached Bangladesh on Monday. The Speaker of the parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Mia along others welcomed them.

Besides Bangladesh the other participating countries are Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Kiribati, Samoa and Tonga.

However, Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will inaugurate the program at 9:30am.
