Japan keen to invest more here

DHAKA: Japanese Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Norihiko Ishiguro expressed their interest to invest more in Power and Energy sector of Bangladesh.

They are also interested to invest in those sectors which were affected by the treat of climate change.

Norihiko made the remark during a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday.

A four-member delegation led by Norihiko was attending the Joint Bangladesh-Japan Public-Private Economic Dialogue in the morning.

PM’s Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters after the meeting.

He said Japan’s PM along with a top entrepreneurs’ team will visit Bangladesh on September 6-7.

They will evaluate the opportunity and prosperity of investing in Bangladesh, said Norihiko.

The Japanese investors will show interest to invest in the country for its’ geographic position.

Sheikh Hasina also sought more Japanese investment to build Bangladesh as a middle-income country by 2021 as the environment will be friendly for the investors.

PM's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Dr Gowher Rizvi and Japanese Ambassador Shiro Shadoshima were present at the meeting.
