Chandpur: Rail communications on the Chtittagong-Laksham section of the railways snapped as an oil-laden train derailed in Kalibari area on Saturday morning in an accident fraught with dangers.

Railway sources said four of the 25 containers of the “Tank Special” train from Chittagong veered off the track at around 10:40am.

No casualties or injuries were reported from the train accident.

Some 34,690 liters of diesel spread out on the ground as one container turned upside down while three others fell off the track.

A relief train was called in to conduct salvage operation and clear the train route.

Chandpur Railway Stationmaster Md. Golam Mostafa said, “It would take two more days to restore communications on the Chittagong-Laksham section.”

A probe body will also be formed to investigate the accident, he said.
